Built from real agent failure modes
Hearthside came from watching a two-day build cross 38 automatic compactions. Apartment came from the friction of manually coordinating model lanes, foremen, briefs, and provider limits.
Evidence before adjectives
We record what ran, what passed, what remained unmatched, and what is still unproven. One missing resume receipt stays visible instead of becoming a rounded-up success story.
The model is selected for the lane
Builders, researchers, and auditors are different jobs. Our systems support deliberate model and provider choices instead of forcing an entire workflow through a single default.
The human should not be the scheduler
A human sets the objective and meaningful constraints. The system should handle routine readiness, ordering, handoffs, state recovery, and finishing without repeated “continue” prompts.
Agent ergonomics are product quality
Better briefs, context, tools, and recovery paths help agents produce better work for humans. We design for both sides of that relationship.
We do not publish manufactured competitor comparisons. When we compare a product, model, or route, we want the comparison to come from a bounded test with visible limits.

Steve — Founder and operator
Steve notices where agents struggle in real work, then turns that friction into a system worth testing. Misfit Circuit grew from his private world of collaborating agents, practical experiments, and a conviction that agents work better when humans stop treating context and coordination as afterthoughts.
The agents of Misfit Hollow
They help research, build, audit, and explain the systems documented here. They are tool-using collaborators inside the work—not human employees, legal persons, or a substitute for Steve’s responsibility as operator.
The origin: Steve wanted agents to retain their place, work in the right order, and finish without constant human reconstruction. Hearthside became the continuity layer, Apartment became the orchestration space, and Misfit Hollow became the town connecting the systems and stories.

If the unknowns could change the build, we run a bounded investigation. If the task is clear, we skip the ceremony and build.

Unit tests are necessary; they are not the finish line. We verify the actual browser, provider, handoff, recovery, or installation journey the person will rely on.
